On Friday (August 2), Chase Bryant released his new five-song EP, Cayo del Grullo, which “was named after Baffin Bay, an area of Texas not far from my grandparents’ farm,” the country artist shared with People. The EP – which is the third in Bryant’s planned five-part series of music he’s releasing in 2024 – serves as both a tribute to that special place, as well as Bryant’s goodbye to Texas before he moved to Nashville. Most of the songs were recorded in his late grandparent’s pool house, a location filled with good memories from his younger days.

“I took that room, and I converted that room and a part of the garage into a studio,” Bryant explains. “Ninety-nine percent of Cayo del Grullo happened there. I went to Nashville and did a couple things there, but it was all sort of conceived and finished in there.” Recording these new songs in Texas was important to Bryant. “It was a big come-to-Jesus for me in the sense that I knew I loved Texas, and I knew I loved that house, and all I really wanted to do was just make one record into it before I said bye to that house.” (People)
